Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is a chemical substance produced by trophoblastic tissue, which is typically found in early embryos and eventually forms part of the placenta. Measuring hCG levels can be useful to identify a normal pregnancy, pathological pregnancy, or after a miscarriage. It is also beneficial in diagnosing a variety of cancers, including choriocarcinoma and extrauterine malignant neoplasms.

hCG is a hormone found in both men and women in small amounts. Its normal serum concentration is less than 5 mUI/mL in non-pregnant women and 2 mUI/mL in men. Known as the "pregnancy hormone," it plays a crucial role in maintaining pregnancy. hCG levels increase within 10 days of conception, continue to rise during the first three months, and then gradually decrease. Men use hCG injections for various purposes, such as boosting testosterone levels, reducing symptoms of hypogonadism, and improving sexual function. Due to the effectiveness of hCG injections, many doctors now combine them with testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). But what are the benefits of combining TRT and hCG? What does the science say? Should you receive hCG injections or not? Read the article to find out.

Here’s where TRT comes in.

TRT provides exogenous testosterone to the body, increasing serum testosterone levels to normal. The therapy not only raises testosterone levels but also reduces symptoms of low testosterone. TRT can produce the following positive effects on your body:

  • Improved muscle mass
  • Increased bone density and strength
  • More energy
  • Better mood
  • Enhanced sexual desire
  • Reduction in body fat

  • To use hCG injections, they are typically administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly, with the recommended dosage depending on the condition being treated. For testosterone optimization, the usual dose ranges from 500 to 1,000 IU 2-3 times per week. It’s often combined with testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to maintain natural testosterone production. Injections should be done under medical supervision to monitor effectiveness and avoid side effects. Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting hCG therapy.
